The summer transfer window was clearly unsuccessful for Arsene Wenger’s side, as the Gunner’s brought just goalkeeper Petr Cech in from Chelsea for £10m, but has been hit by an injury crisis.
But according to former Reading boss McDermott – who is now chief scout at Arsenal – Wenger won’t be making big waves in the mid-season transfer market.
“The manager won’t spend unless he thinks it’s absolutely necessary,” he told Sky Sports.
“The scouting structure at Arsenal is phenomenal. We all know who the top strikers in the world are.”Can you get them to come? They won’t be available in January that’s an absolute certainty.”
