Liverpool hand transfer boost as Borussia Dotrmund sign Ilkay Gundogan replacement

According to the latest transfer news from the Daily Star, Liverpool are getting closer to sign Borussia Dortmund midfield star Ilkay Gundogan, as the Bundesliga outfit have completed the signing of Atletico Madrid talented midfielder Oliver Torres and have signed four-and-a-half year deal with 21-year-old Spanish starlet.

This transfer could be a hint that long-term Liverpool target Ilkay Gundogan is now free to leave the Signal Iduna Park. The 25-year-old Germany international has joined Dortmund in May of 2011 as a replacement of Nuri Sahin and now, Italian Calciomercato claim he’s a target for Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp and Serie A giants Juventus. The arrival of Torres at the Westfalenstadion is the biggest indication yet that the Germany international’s Bundesliga future is in doubt.

During his interview with the German Bild, Turkey-born Gundogan has admitted that nothing is yet decided and he should be careful about making the right decision, as his career is limited in time: “There is still no decision, and of course, everything has to be considered very carefully, because your career is limited in time. I know what I have at my club, and I’m not going to lose sight of it. But again, a decision is definitely not made.”

Gundogan has joined Borussia Dortmund from Nurnberg back in 2011 and during his time at Bundesliga club he established himself as one of the key players for Thomas Tuchel’s side. The midfielder has made 146 appearances for The Black and Yellows and scored 16 goals in all competitions.
