Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has welcomed LA Galaxy new signing Nigel de Jong who took part in his first training session with the team.
The signing of a Dutchman was announced last week, but he’s only now joining up with the squad for pre-season after sorting out his move from AC Milan.
He’s the latest in a trio of high-profile off-season signings – with Ashley Cole and Jelle Van Damme moving from Europe before him.
MLS giants LA Galaxy, of course, already have some star players in their roster, with Robbie Keane, Giovani dos Santos and Gerrard set to line up this season.
And it’s the latter player who took to Instagram earlier to welcome his new midfield partner to the club.
Gerrard shared a picture of the pair and wrote: “Welcome partner”
Former Liverpool ace and De Jong should be a dangerous duo in MLS this term and should be targeting MLS Cup glory after building a talented squad in the off-season.
This is Gerrard’s final season as a player and you’d expect he’ll be wanting to go out on a high.
