According to the Italian media outlets, Chelsea top transfer target Stefan de Vrij is set to snub interest from the Blues in order to join another Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur instead.
The 24-year-old centre-back was believed to be a top target for Antonio Conte after the Italian boss failed to convince Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci to swap the Old Lady for the Blues next summer.
Conte was a few defensive reinforcements in the summer with Gary Cahill on the wrong side of 30 and John Terry set to be in his final season as a Chelsea player.
Stefan De Vrij is believed to be stalling on signing a new contract deal with his current club Lazio as the Serie A outfit prepare to lose one of its best performers in the summer.
And the reports from Italian publication Il Tempo suggest that Tottenham Hotspur are willing to fork out the £30 million asking price of the defender, therefore moving ahead of Chelsea in the queue.
The Dutch international is also understood to prefer a move to the Spurs over Chelsea and is eager to join Mauricio Pochettino’s ever-improving side in the summer.
