Liverpool will face major competition from Arsenal if they wish to sign Schalke’s Leon Goretzka, according to the German media outlet Bild
Goretzka is just 22 and has been capped for Germany’s senior side already, a big achievement considering the competition for places.
Likened to a young Michael Ballack, Schalke star fits the profile of player Liverpool should be targeting, but they will face competition from Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Juventus for his signature.
The only real question for the Merseyside club is whether or not they really have room for another midfielder. The German is better going forward than Jurgen Klopp’s current options in the double-pivot, but he may not have the offensive skill to play further forward.
Meanwhile, the Gunners are uncertain whether Mesut Ozil stays in the club or leave in the summer and monitoring Goretzka, who made 31 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring six goals and providing two assists.
As shared by OptaFranz, the versatile midfielder added an ability to score to his arsenal this season:

It is also claimed Goretzka, whose current contract expires in 2018, could cost around £15.6million (€18m).
The 6ft2 playmaker has rejected a contract renewal with a release clause and it may force German club to sell their key man in the summer to avoid losing him on a free.
