Manchester United have tried to sign Joshua Kimmich ahead of the summer transfer window, as reported by the German media.
The defender has made 67 appearances for Bayern Munich since finalising a move from Leipzig back in 2015. However, the 22-year-old has been strongly linked with a transfer to the Premier League in last months.
German Kicker reports both United and Manchester City have asked for the highly-demanded Bayern ace.
Kimmich, who can work at full-back or in midfield, has fast become one of the most sought after footballers on the continent after bursting into the team under Pep Guardiola at the Allianz Arena.

It’s believed two unknown sides from Spain have also made approaches over Kimmich with possible deals in mind.
Guardiola’s close relationship with Kimmich could help City in signing the Germany international ahead of Man United.
“He’s got passion – he’s got absolutely everything. I love this lad,” – Guardiola claimed about Kimmich the last term.
Meanwhile, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho want to sign Arsenal pair Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer.
The Portuguese head coach is keen to reinforce his squad with three or four top class players this summer, and he’ll be given a £150million budget to do so.
The manager called Mesut Ozil as the best no.10 in the world during his time with Los Blancos, and he’s keen on working with the midfielder again at Old Trafford.
Ozil, 28, has 14 months to run on his current contract at the Emirates and the German’s deal talks with the North Londoners are at a standstill after he rejected an offer of £200,000-a-week.
The German ace wants the explanation on Arsene Wenger’s future at the club before making his choice, and he would be open to playing under Mourinho again.
Mourinho is a great admirer of Ozil’s team-mate, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and the England international finds himself in a similar situation at the Emirates with time running out on his deal.
The 23-year-old keen on regular first-team football and Mourinho tried to land the attacker as part of an exchange agreement when Petr Cech moved to the North Londoners in 2015.
According to Goal, Mourinho’s watching the situation of both footballers and will make a move for the duo should their contract talks continue to drag.
