Jose Mourinho is reportedly ready to push through the £10million transfer of Celtic star Kieran Tierney as Luke Shaw’s Manchester United career draws to a close
The 19-year-old is undoubtedly one of the brightest prospects currently coming through in the Scotland’s top flight, having already established himself as a key man for the Bhoys less than two years after he made his debut for the club.
And the Mirror report the Premier League giants are closely monitoring the progress of promising left-back, who is valued at around £10m by Brendan Rodgers’ side.
United boss Jose Mourinho has used a variety of players on the left side of his defence this season. Luke Shaw has fallen out of favour, while Matteo Darmian, Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo have all been rotated in that role.
This week, the Special one said that England international was “a long way behind” other full-backs at the club.
“I cannot compare the way he trains, the way he way he commits, the focus, the ambition, – the Portuguese tactician admitted.
“I cannot compare. He is a long way behind.”
The Red Devils £30m signing has also been criticised for ‘overplaying’ injuries.
Shaw has played just 70 minutes in England’s top flight since losing his place at the end of October, with only a couple of other Cup appearances.
Meanwhile, the Scotland international Tierney made 32 appearances in all competitions this term – has netted once and registered 12 assists for the Hoops.
Celtic have won a sixth consecutive Scottish Premiership title with eight games to spare after thrashing Hearts 5-0 at Tynecastle on Sunday.
