Manchester United are reportedly preparing a shock move for Tottenham Hotspur shot-stopper Hugo Lloris, should David De Gea leave the clib this summer
De Gea is on Real Madrid’s radar, and the Daily Express claim that the Red Devils have identified the Tottenham ace as their number one target should the Spanish international head to the Bernabeu.
The report adds that while the €26.3m-rated (via CIES) France international recently signed a contract at White Hart Lane that is set to keep him at Spurs until 2022, Paris Saint Germain and United chasing his signature can offer him a significantly better wage than the £100,000 a week he makes at London club.
The 31-year-old has once again been a standout performer for the Lilywhites this season, keeping 11 clean sheets and averaging 1.88 saves-per-game in 26 Premier League appearances prior to this afternoon’s clash with Watford.
The Tottenham captain was recently hailed by Liverpool legend Graeme Souness, who thinks he’s one of the best goalkeepers around.
“Lloris is as good as there is out there. He’s the right age and the captain, so he is judged to be a very strong character,” Souness said on Sky Sports.
“You don’t get many captains as goalkeeper. He takes two steps and makes an easy catch rather than making a Hollywood save.
“He is a really solid goalkeeper.”
However it won’t be easy for United to persuade Lloris leaving Spurs, as Mauricio Pochettino’s men are flying high in Engalnd’s top flight while Jose Mourinho’s side face an uphill battle trying to make the top four this year.
