Jurgen Klopp confirms Liverpool holding talks with potential summer signings

Jurgen Klopp has revealed Liverpool are in talks with potential summer signings but admits their targets are being chased by rival clubs.

The Reds are on the cusp of securing a return to Champions League football with two games to go in the 2016-17 Premier League season.

Liverpool are in third place and four points ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal after failing to beat Southampton at Anfield last weekend.

Klopp has struggled to keep his key players fit in the current campaign which has led to concerns being raised about the size of the German’s squad.

Liverpool signed seven players in the 2016 summer transfer window as Klopp looked to add vital numbers to his Reds squad.

Speaking at his pre-match media conference ahead of Liverpool’s clash against West Ham United at London Stadium on Sunday afternoon, Klopp discussed potential signings this summer.

And the Liverpool manager rubbished the suggestion that his players are worried that missing out on a top-four finish could affect the Merseyside club’s transfer business.

“The players we are talking to, I know they have offers from other clubs. It’s important for the club,” Klopp said.

“There’s a lot of money in Champions League, as a football club we have to do this.

“Should I go to the players in the dressing room, ‘boys the better you play the better the players that replace you next year are’?!”
