“It’s not only the financial part” – Player opens up on potential Liverpool transfer, and his conditions

Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has spoken out on the rumours which have been linking him to his former club Grêmio.

As reported by the Brazilian press this week, the Southern side is keen on signing the midfielder, but are afraid his wages will be too high for them.

Newspaper Zero Hora managed to interview the 30-year-old this week. As there aren’t official offers yet, Lucas didn’t want to speak much about possibilities, but claimed that money isn’t the only problem for him.

“It’s not only the financial part that should be analysed, but several factors that would take me some way to anticipate my return to Brazil,” the Liverpool player told Zero Hora.

He also claimed he feels more safe in other places: “Guarantees in football are difficult. But I need to feel a kind of tranquility to return. Even because the scenario of Brazil today is not positive for a return in terms of security.”

Zero Hora claims that Lucas’ permanence at Liverpool is uncertain due to the many offers that his agent Kia Joorabchian has been getting.

They also say that the player has one more year of contract at the club. But other outlets, and websites such as Transfermarkt, all claim that his deal is running out at the end of this season.
