Simon Mignolet has insisted that he is not concerned about the transfer rumours liking Liverpool with signing a new goalkeeper this summer.
The Belgian shot-stopper managed to make the number one spot his own at Anfield this term after initially losing his place to Loris Karius early in the campaign.
The 29-year-old ended up starting 28 of Liverpool’s 38 Premier League games as he helped the Reds secure a return to the Champions League for next season via a top-four finish.
There is bound to be plenty of speculation linking Liverpool with a host of top players in the coming weeks and months as Jurgen Klopp prepares for his second full campaign in charge at Anfield.
However, Mignolet says he will not be paying any attention to the rumour linking the Reds with a move for a new goalkeeper as he simply focuses on stepping up his own game.
Mignolet is quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo: “Everyone will see the numbers and think I am fighting this guy and this guy. But that isn’t how it is.
“I’m fighting against Manuel Neuer, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Joe Hart, Iker Casillas. I know all those names are going to be flying around, I know what I did this season will be forgotten.
“I’m not fighting against the guys in the dressing room. I’m fighting against myself. There is no point gauging what is going to be around me.”
